Accurate detection of black objects or metals is achieved. It features a high-power CMOS laser and a dynamic range of 2 million times. Transparent object detection is also supported. A new function, background tuning, is available, and reflectors can also be used.
Keyence LR-Z Series (Distance-setting type, high-power:)
Enables stable detection of difficult-to-detect workpieces. When using KEYENCE’s previous reflective-type sensors that detect based on light intensity, detection instability sometimes occurs due to the color or surface condition of the workpiece. The distance-setting type LR-Z series addresses this issue, providing stable detection regardless of the workpiece’s type or condition. With the addition of a high-power model (LR-ZH type), its application range has been further expanded.
Rugged metal housing, IP68/IP69K rated, with superior interference resistance.
Maximum Detection Distance of 500 mm
Detection capability can be maximized up to 500 mm through high-power enhancement. When using sensors based on the luminance value principle, unstable light intensity at longer distances can lead to detection failure. However, the LR-Z series enables stable detection even at extended ranges and when installed at an angle, allowing for worry-free layout installation.
CMOS + Laser Light Source (Triangulation Ranging with High Power)
Triangulation ranging is one of the detection principles of displacement sensors. Light emitted by the transmitter illuminates the workpiece, and the reflected light enters the receiver. The receiver is equipped with a CMOS image sensor composed of multiple light-receiving elements. By varying the distance to the workpiece, the peak position of the received light waveform on the CMOS image sensor changes. Consequently, the distance to the workpiece can be calculated.
Long-Distance Detection Using Reflectors or Retroreflective Tape
By employing reflectors or retroreflective tape, the maximum detection range can be extended up to 700 mm. This method is also suitable for applications without a defined background or in scenarios where the background shape is unstable.
